Explore Angkor & beyond

There is an undefined magic and spirituality in the grounds of Angkor that was a life-changing experience. I dreamt I could share it with our guests and introduce them further deep into Cambodian culture…

exploring the temples

Maison Polanka team designs tailor-made tours to immerse you in the World Heritage listed Angkor Archeological Park. We have selected senior guides to help you avoid the crowds and reveal hidden treasures.

For a one-day discovery pass up to the one-week archeologist tour, you can follow the path of the early discoverers in Roluos & Angkor, but also travel further to remote temples such as Koh Ker group, Preah Vihear, Bantey Chmar or Sambor Prei Kuk. You can combine rides in the traditional tuk tuk with a car or a van, or choose to live the adventure with a vintage jeep. There are hiking and biking options in the sandy tracks and leafy paths of the temples.

The details of each experience will be sent upon request.

countryside escapes

Countryside cycling: a half day cycling along Siem Reap rive towards the Tonle Sap, visiting Wat Athvear temple on the way and pagodas, local markets and villages before taking a boat at the West Baray for a picnic on the Mebon temple island at lunch or sunset.
Kulen mountains trek: hike 15km in Cambodia’s most sacred mountain and explore its mystical virgin forest, temples, villages and jungle springs. Share a family’s lunch in this remote area not accessible until 2000 and discover the hidden elephant and lion pool and statues.
Countryside picnic: embark in a vintage jeep to the off road countryside and experience breath taking views of the rice fields and palm trees, crowds of water buffalos and birds before settling down for a picnic at Chao Say Vibol citadel.

family adventures

Cycling the countryside: for the young explorers, this half day cycling tour provides a slice of authentic rural life riding through rice paddies, ponds, farms and villages towards the Tonle Sap.
The elephant sanctuary: Step into the elephant world by visiting their sanctuary on the way to Phnom Kulen for an afternoon in the wild. Walk with the elephants through the forest and enjoy a refreshing swim with them and have a picnic in the wild before heading back to Maison Polanka.

the tonle sap

The Tonle Sap has been registered as a UNESCO biosphere reserve since 1997 in recognition of its exceptional ecological, economic, social and cultural value, being the largest freshwater lake in South East Asia and sheltering the most important water-bird colonies of the region. Embark for a memorable journey to the floating village of Prek Toal: explore the bird sanctuary before heading to the village and visit the water hyacinth platform, the community restaurant and the village life with the NGO Osmose.

Shorter sunset trips to the lake can also be organized by Maison Polanka.

in the city

Siem Reap town has a lot to offer in terms of culture with its museums, pagodas and art galleries or designer studios. The Angkor National Museum visit gives an overview of the chronology and art of  carving of the Khmer Empire. The Conservation d’Angkor hosts the Ministry of culture restoration, storing more than 6000 pieces of Khmer art; access needs to be pre-arranged by Maison Polanka.

Siem Reap also has a thriving new generation of artists and designers who are opening their studios, galleries and shops to visitors. Maison Polanka will share the best addresses in town.

Combining a tour of its nearby colonial and post colonial buildings and its pagoda, you can spend an hour, a half day or the full day around town riding our vintage bicycles or a tuk tuk.
